穴義

太，形容詞，高、大、極、最；陽，陰陽之陽。
頭顳部之微凹陷處，俗稱太陽穴，穴在其上，故取名。

Meaning

The light depression of temple on head was called Taiyang(Temple), this point is right on it, so called it as Taiyang.

定位

在顳部，當眉梢與目外眥之間，向后約一橫指的凹陷處。

Location

In the region of the temples, in the depression about one finger-breadth posterior to the midpoint between the lateral end of the eyebrow and the outer canthus.

主治

1. 頭痛，目赤腫痛。
2．牙痛，面痛。

Indication

1. headache, redness, swelling and pain of the eye
2. toothache, facial pain

針法

直刺或斜刺0.5-0.8寸，或點刺出血。

perpendicular or oblique insertion 0.3-0.5 cun, or prick to cause bleeding
